Disk Space Management

Applies to: Standard, Professional and Server Editions of Macrium Reflect only.

 

 

Disk space management allows you to automatically purge the destination directory of old backups to make space available for the latest.

Note: Disk Space Management acts at a directory level. If you save different backup sets in the same directory, some of the older sets may be unintentionally deleted.

Setting

Description

Enable disk space management

Specify whether Macrium Reflect is to manage disk space.

Automatically remove full backups

Specify whether full backups should removed from the destination directory if they are old than x Days/Weeks.   If a full backup is removed then all linked incremental and differential backups will also be removed as they would become invalid.

Keep a maximum of

Specify how many full backups should be retained.

Run Purge

Specify when the purge of previous backups should be performed, either before or after the backup.

Note:  If you select to run the purge before the backup then the maximum number of backup sets retained does not include the current backup set in the calculation.

e.g., if you only have room for 1 backup set then set the maximum number to zero and choose the run the purge before the backup.
