Backup Definition Files |
The 'Backup Definition Files' tab provides the ability to create, modify and manage the XML definition files that are used to store the configuration of individual backup tasks.
The window consists of a tool bar underneath which is a list of XML definition files. In this case, there is one - 'My Backup.xml'. The bottom pane shows an overview of the main configuration settings stored by the XML file. There is also a tab that shows an XML view of the data.
The Toolbar allows the following actions:

Check that the XML definition file is XML compliant. This is useful if you wish to modify the files manually | |

Generate an MS-DOS Batch File using the XML definition file | |
Create a shortcut on the desktop | |
Edit the Advanced Settings |
You can also right click on the XML file
The menu options provide the following functionality
Menu option |
Description |
Open Containing Folder |
This will open the folder that contains the XML definition file. |
Add to list |
Display a Windows file open dialog, allowing you to select an existing backup definition file to include in the list. |
Edit |
Allows you to edit the backup definition file. The appropriate dialog will be displayed for the backup, either the Image Dialog or the Backup Dialog. Once you have completed making changes to the definition file you can either save back to the existing file or create a new file (allowing you to copy similar backup definitions easily). |
Delete |
Removes the backup definition from the list. Deletion is not permanent, you can add the definition file back using Add To List. |
Validate |
Validates the backup file content. This should be used if the backup definition is modified outside of Macrium Reflect. |
